Ever17 Game

So I've been wanting to write a review of this for like ever! Ever17 happens to be one of the best games I've ever played, much to Phill's disgust. Ever17 is a particular sort of game for a particular sort of game player. It's called a 'Visual novel' it actually plays like a 'choose your own adventure' books I use to love reading as a kid. It's also a Japanese game, so they speak Japanese through out and to understand there's a lot of reading to be done. I loved it, but it took a long time to get through the five 'good' endings, especially as it doesn't work on my adorable little Mac.

Coco, possibly my fav character.

The storyline is pretty simple from the beginning, five people stuck in a state of the art underwater theme park which is going to sink in seven days in the non to distant future. You progress through reading all the way and you get to pick the view points of one of two protagonists, and follow the storylines through to their conclusions.from each of the boys point of view you can end up with one of two girls. The fifth girl, the last storyline is the most fantastic and ties all of the wonderfullness together. Truly the most fantastic bit, it covers everything from 'third eyes' to people from the forth dimension. there's love and silliness. Immortality, AI's, fatal diseases. I spent a good portion of the ending in tears.

You and Sara sleeping

The character interaction is the best thing. You truly get caught up in the lives and happenings of these people. The intricacies of it all is simply amazing how their lives intertwine. In the end I was simply amazed at how much thought went into the way it all the way through. The images were truly marvelous in the important parts and sometimes i never wanted it to end. the main hassle was the length. sometimes you were reading the same things all five times and you had to be careful when fast forwarding things that you didn't miss anything important. And the walk through was essential, there were also three bad endings that would have made it terrible to have to replay. In the end i couldn't get enough of how it all ended. It's just something you have to play for yourself to truly get it (and I have it if you want to borrow). And now I'm off to bed!
